The Jay Danley Band

Jay Danley has been one of the most sought-after Jazz and Latin multi-instrumentalist musician/composers in Toronto for 25 years.

His extensive experience roster is stacked with a multitude of legendary musicians from around the world. Jay’s continued success has led him to his latest project “The Jay Danley Band”, an Ethio-Jazz, Afrobeat and World-Jazz Fusion group formed in 2016.

The full-length album features the five tone scaling of Ethiopian jazz, but is remarkably accessible.

Containing not only memorable melodies and themes, but incredible performances including Jazz legends, pianist aficionado Hilario Duran, bassist Rich Brown and trumpeter Alexander Brown.

They’ve had the pleasure of performing at Small World Music Society's annual festival, opened the “Lulaworld” Festival at Lula Lounge in Toronto, and the Hamilton World Music Festival.

Jay’s extensive performance experience includes Juno nominated and winning albums.

He recorded two nominated albums with Hilario Duran, and was the featured guitarist on Julian Fauth’s 2009 Juno winning Blues album of the year “Ramblin Son.”
He’s had the pleasure of performing with soprano saxophone and flutist Jane Bunnett, Hilario Duran at the 2007 Barbados Jazz Festival, and was the standard accompanist for the legendary British–Canadian jazz vibraphonist, percussionist, and composer Peter Appleyard.

Jay has also performed with renowned Latin stars Eliades Ochoa, Compay Segundo of Buena Vista Social Club, and Salsa star Oscar D’Leon. He has headlined Toronto’s historic concert venue Massey Hall with Latin jazz legends Cubanissimo and his own Cuban music groups Klave Y Kongo and Son Ache.

Jay continues to play in several distinguished Jazz and Latin bands and currently resides in Toronto.
